One of the areas I’ve taught my clients and seminar participants is that of visualizing success.  Just like top level athletes, the use of visualization a successful outcome works.  It’s not just seeing the end, but the whole process that leads to the end.  True success includes the journey.  Even for one athletic event.

After countless times of helping others, I wanted to test it once again on myself.  Today, during the pull-up portion of my workout, I visualized myself becoming a machine.  The machine would become one with the pull-up bar.  I further imagined myself “pumping out” pull-ups, one after another until I did over 60.  You might be saying, “60?  Can he really do that?”

As I got ready and had my whole focus on that, everything around me disappeared.  My mind was only focused on doing pull-ups with power and ease.  So, I grabbed that bar and become one with it as I had imagined.  I felt powerful.  My body felt like something beastly and strong.  I started as I had seen in my mind and simply followed that same path and feeling.  I kept going.  At 40 I still felt as strong as I had at 20.  I hit 50 and still was strong, though burning.  At 55 I started feeling a heavy burn.  Each one after that became a struggle.  I hit 60 and seethed.  Then one final pull-up… 61!  I did it!  My best ever!  My previous high was earlier this year, 57 pull-ups.  My best in the Marines was 44.

I had believed from visualizing that I would accomplish my goal of doing more than 60 pull-ups.  I did at an age when most guys are thinking about getting ready to retire.  That’s something I will never visualize or think about.  One thing about any thoughts you have, whether it’s what you want or don’t want.  The more power and emotions you put into them, the more powerful they will become.  Especially negative thoughts.  What you think about is a form of visualizing.  If you think you can’t do something, then you won’t.

Whatever you want, you have to imagine or visualize it as happening and put all your power and emotions into that picture.  Put your body into it too.  Feel it through your whole being as if it were really happening and then make it so.  JUST DO IT!

I wish you successful thoughts and focus.
