“A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success.” ~Dr. Joyce Brothers
“The ‘self-image’ is the key to human personality and human behavior. Change the self image and you change the personality and the behavior.” ~Dr. Maxwell Maltz
Each one of us has a viewpoint of ourselves. Some are good, some not so much. Many hide how they truly feel about themselves behind masks. They may appear to be happy and yet, underneath they suffer from all kinds of turmoil. Yes, we define who we are. That is our self-image.
While each person has a self-image, there are many who has a distorted view of themselves. Women tend to be the worst at looking at themselves in the worst way. Some of the most beautiful women I’ve seen don’t see themselves that way.
What if you could see a movie about your life? I mean right now the way you see yourself. How would that movie play out? If you were at home watching it on TV, how would you feel? Be truthful. Would it be a sad movie, a happy one, an adventurous one, a drama?
If you could rewrite the script of you, would you? It matters not what the past was about, I mean you now. How would you want to present the main character? Who would you want to be starring alongside you? And what type of movie would it be?
Here’s something that I suggest you do. Look at the main character (YOU) and create that person as powerful. Imagine that person being the hero or heroine of this movie. Make that character so enduring that you can’t help but to really like who he or she is. Add in all the qualities you’d like that character to have. Include confidence as well.
Play the movie with the new script. How does it change how you feel?
You see, you are the star of your own movie. You have the power to change the script. It’s ultimately up to you. Though, like a good movie, you may need some help to get you going. Bring in the behind the scene people that will make the movie even more successful. You can change your self-image and unleash a more powerful and confidence you. One that is positive about your future, no matter the challenges that lay before you.
Begin the process now. Begin writing that powerful new script and dump the old one. Your old negative self-image is now being replaced with one that more powerful. Just do it!
