One of the trends I’d love to see get going is a prescription for “real health.” Last year I finally convinced my doctor to start writing prescriptions in that regard. While he still writes them for medications, he has now added fitness, nutrition and a good attitude to the mix. It took many years and my own studies in epigenetics, neuroscience, fitness and psychology to convince him regarding how those three areas did more for health than standard medicine.
Instead of simply taking care of one’s health, many people have relegated it to prescription medications, surgery, and even hospital care. Most doctors focus on that too. There a few progressives types that buck their own health care system to do what is right and what works. And hopefully, it will soon be the trend and not the exception.
Still, I believe, it is ultimately up to each one of us to write our own prescription of health. That means to take action to get fit, eat healthy and maintain that good attitude in all aspects of life. And while we are on that subject of writing, get out a journal (a spiral-bound notebook will suffice) and start writing in it. Write down your fitness goals and the action steps you WILL take towards them. Write consistently too. Make this next year one that will be your best yet. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
Start taking control of your own health and when you do that, you will feel better, look better and be better. That will transform itself into other areas of your life too. People love to associate with those that have that youthfulness glow about them, in mind and body.
You now have a prescription of fitness, nutrition and a positive attitude. Use it starting NOW!
