I’ve had so many people come to me wanting to make changes in their lives. Some want to get healthy and fit, others want to get wealthy and even others want to find true love. These changes and more are not going to fall into your lap. The universe will only give to you the effort you first put into it.

Whatever you want out of life you’re going to have to work for it. Change is constant. The right change takes effort. It also takes focus and concentration. We can all change and most do. But, is it the right change?

Last year, my buddy Jason Johnson and I went to visit seniors at the Linda Valley Villa in Loma Linda, CA. What was really amazing was the willingness for many of them wanting to change, even into their 90’s and beyond. One lady reminded me that one had to work at it. She remembered playing a new game called “volcano” with her great grandchildren. During that play she had to fall down onto the pile of kids (they fell on her too). She had fun learning this new game and playing. This being that she was 94-years-old.

In my own case, learning new things is wonderful. One of the things about change is that we sometimes have to discard knowledge that no longer applies into to fill our brains with new information.

Part of my personal epiphany regarding change occurred in the area of business. When I discovered these millennial business men and women engaging in what is known as growth hacker marketing, I was intrigued. I jumped into it and found out that they used engineering strategies to help growth businesses. Not only that, part of their world involved creating a “minimal viable product” so that their able to test whether it is what the market wants. Feedback is an important part of the process.

I was able to learn something new while discarding that which does not apply anymore. The same with fitness, I’ve adapted to what works and what doesn’t work. New information comes out all the time.

Change is not easy and yet, it’s important. I have to study and then apply what I’ve learned to create know-how. There is no easy road to success. It’s filled with bumps and potholes. Learning new things takes time and you’ll only truly learn it when what you learn is put into practice. From that you’ll get valuable feedback. Yes, that feedback may come in the form of those bumps and potholes. Face the fear of change and move forward.

For me, I am so ready to continue my journey and learn new things. When I stop will be the day I am truly old. Change and adapting to it keeps me focused and keeps me young. If you’re willing to do so, then change and adapt to it. Grow from it. And grow younger because of it. Heck, even our own bodies need to be challenged by change. Change your exercise routines for physical growth too.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.
