So, you may have noticed that the world didn’t end and you’re still going to have go to that job you hate. If you were one of the few that believed all of this Mayan Calendar thing and sold all your assets, quit your job and got into some survivalist program, then good for you. I am glad that I wasn’t included among you. I simply kept going at what I love to do and this is part of it. Writing to you.
Life goes on and it will. I’ve been around for awhile and have seen “The End of the World” thing for many decades now. Gloom and doom predictions are part of the human psyche that stems back thousands of years. Life on this planet will continue to go on for many more millions of years, even when faced with some catastrophe (like the one that besieged the dinosaurs). Things happen. Tsunamis and other natural disasters that have ended the world for many people. Man-created disasters have also contributed to the demise of many. Those things we know about to be real.
Ancient predictions come from a period of time when humans didn’t have a great understanding of science and how this planet operated. And their world was not the whole world. They may have only understood things from their perspective. The Mayans didn’t understand great masted ships or other humans with weapons that produced a huge bang. They only understood their world, just as the first European’s understood their world and not the “New World.”
I say to each of you, if you still decide to fall for some “end-of-the-world” prediction, then so be it. It is your decision. For me, my world will end once I end in this life. For now, I will go on and continue to write and train and teach and enjoy being human. I will love all that life has to offer. And you can come an join me in that while going after a worthy goal.
You are here and live fully with it. Live in the moment.
