On St. Patrick’s Day each year many people tend to look for good luck through using a four-leaf clover. The person who carries horseshoe or rabbit’s foot is certain to be lucky through their life. Though, the horse the threw the shoe or the rabbit that lost it’s foot certainly wouldn’t think so. Wishing and praying for something lucky to happen is the same thing. Just because you wish it, won’t mean it will happen.
Wishing takes belief. Yet, belief alone is simply like wishing, nothing happens. The ingredient to make any wish or belief come true is gritty action. This simply means, you gotta have backbone. Claude Bristol said this very thing in his book T.N.T.: It Rocks the Earth, 1st published in 1932.
As the new year approaches, give your resolutions some gritty action. Give it a backbone. Most resolutions end up being simply a wishbone with no backbone.
Certainly life will give you to what you ask for. Only if that asking goes beyond wishing for it. The author who wants to write a best-selling book has to go beyond simply writing it. It has to be published and that’s only one part of the process. The same author has to make sure there is audience for the book. Then, the author has to find a way of reaching that audience and let them know that the books exists. This take effort and massive, effective marketing.
Speaking of books, those who simply read a book on fitness, doesn’t mean that they are going to get fit. Again, it takes action. If there are certain exercises in the book, then doing those exercises is key to making fitness happen. Don’t just read about it, do it!
The premise of this article is to remind you to put your dreams… your wishes… your goals…. Into sustained action. You’ll have obstacles. Keep taking action while making adjustments as to what works and discard what doesn’t work for you.
The way of life will always be one of action. Let me add, one of “right action.”
Go back to any resource you may have come across or read. Reread it after you’ve taken action. I’ve found that simply by doing that, I was able to understand it better and how it was meant to be applied. Then I’d go back and take the right action.
This is the basis of true power when it comes to knowledge. Not only will you be able to turn it into know-how, you’ll be able to turn it into right know-how for you. Not all knowledge can be done so. Only you can determine that for yourself. Once you do, it can’t be taken away. One you accomplish something, it becomes a part of you. Once you realize that your wishbone was made true through your backbone, then you will come to understand true success.
