For many thousands of years, humankind endured the physical challenges of nature.  Our ancestors had to use every single part of their body to overcome those challenges.  The hunter-gatherers would sometimes go for days to hunt and bring down an animal.  And after doing so, lugging it back to their family unit or tribe.

Fast forward to today’s world and the only challenges we see modern man do is maybe drive to the gym and maybe use the equipment in the gym and maybe do enough to get maybe fit.  And that sure is a lot of “maybe’s.”  Yet, it is true today’s society.  We have forgotten the true test of fitness that only comes from nature.  The great outdoors offer a myriad of fitness equipment.  All we have to do is be aware of its existence.

stone245You want to challenge your legs?  Then find a hill and do sprints!  You might even find a large stone, pick it up and then carry it for 50 meters.  Or maybe a smaller stooutdoor-action-pull-up-tree-beach-201020111ne that is still heavy and throw it like a two-handed shot put.  How about a heavy branch that has fallen off a tree?  Hey, carry it across both your shoulders and do some squats or even walking lunges.  There might even be a tree that you can use to do pull-ups from.

Once you learn that your gym is everywhere, you will no longer have an excuse that the gym is too far.  And training outdoors offers so many more benefits too.  No germ-filled indoor gyms, yes on fresh air and Vitamin D from the sun.  Use all that nature has to offer as you challenge yourself to get your fittest ever.  Have fun too!  Bring friends and family to help spread the outdoor fitness lifestyle.
