The thing about getting healthy and fit is that sometimes we need to kick our own booty to do it.  That means getting mean to yourself.  I’m not talking about getting mad or anything like that.  In order to dwell in the realm of excellence it usually takes continuous challenges to get there.

Getting mean is all about challenging yourself to go beyond what you thought you were capable of.  If you’re not eating the healthier alternatives, then challenge yourself to do so.  If you are making excuses of why you can’t do something, then simply get up and do that thing anyway.

Health and fitness starts with how we think about it.  I was talking to Dr. Lori Shemek, author of FIRE-UP YOUR FAT BURN! Super Easy Quick Tips, Strategies and Goals for Fast Weight Loss, about how many people (especially men) would rather take perfect care of their automobiles than taking care of their own body.  It’s a crazy world when we look at those things.  To them, I say you really have to get mean to yourself.

I can remember many of my friends earlier in my life that worked out with me.  Like me, they were really into making their body into a lean and mean machine.  I have no idea what happened to change their mindset later in life.  What I see now are guys that have bellies much larger than my chest and chests smaller than my waist (at least it appears that way).  They lost that attitude.

My challenge to each one of my readers is to get yourself mean again to get yourself lean.  JUST DO IT!  (unless you want me to come and kick your booty… LOL!!)
