Each year people set goals that they plan to accomplish.  And at the end of the year, only a small percentage actually do.  When I was in the Marines, we had missions to accomplish.  And that took discipline in both training and in the actual mission.  From the very beginning, we had it drumming into our minds that we “can’t stop” until we reach our goals.  Even when we would do physical training (PT), we repeated many running cadences.  One included, “Can’t stop… Won’t stop…”  It became our focus until we finished the run (however long that was).

Marines are indoctrinated from the very beginning to have certain thoughts towards the accomplishment of any goal.  And additionally, Marines are instilled a certain level of self-discipline in order to stay on course until the goal is reached.  That includes being able to adapt, improvise and overcome. None was more apparent than in Reconnaissance teams.

Training was intense so that it ensured a more successful outcome.  The same can be said for just about any endeavor.  If you want to author a book, it takes preparation and discipline.  Many times the work you will do will be tedious.  It is still needed.  If you follow a system, then it become easier.  Just like Marines in Force Recon rely upon their training and a system towards success.

Though, nothing will ever get done unless a “will do” attitude in action takes place.  Discipline is necessary.  Buckling down each day until the goal is accomplish is key.  Whether one does the little things or big things, reaching the goal takes every single thing. And it starts with how you think.  Whatever you hold mostly in your mind will lead to the actions you take.  The more passionate your thoughts are, the more intense your actions will be.  You’ll see many high-level people, in any field, have an obsession in what they do and the goals they strive for.  They will work day and night.  All of their thoughts are about their goal.

Get focused on the right thoughts, be disciplined and work towards your goals until you make it happen.
