Each one of us will make a decision. Even if you believe you don’t you are. That includes whether or not you want to exercise. You’re choosing right now to read farther in this post. Your choices eventually becomes your habits. You are the one that created each of your habits.

Choices1

If you’re sitting down right now, did you choose to sit? Of course you did! Unless you were forced to and tied down by some thugs. You are free to choose whether or not you’re going to engage in physical movement. If you are sitting down, you can choose to stand. Simply by standing you’ll be burning twice as many calories versus sitting. And what if you choose to walk for 5-10 minutes? Yes, you will be burning even more calories.

Prolonged sitting and other inactivity doesn’t do you any good, except when you’re recovering from a serious illness or injury. And even in those realms, it’s important to start moving your body as soon as you can.

Getting fit starts as an attitude. If you really want to get fit, then choose to do so. When you choose, take immediate action. Get your butt off your seat and move. Okay, I better do that right now. 50 squats before I type again…. Finished! You turn.

Every time you do make a conscious decision, do take action. This helps to create a neuroconnection.  Each time you do the same action, the stronger the connection becomes. Like a ditch being dug out, the more you do it, the deeper it gets. Habits are the same thing. Each choice you make and each action soon after becomes the habits that are created.

Here are some pointers I’m going to leave you with…

  • Associate with fitness-minded people who will help you to choose wisely.
  • Write down in a journal all the choices you made towards your health and fitness.
  • Distinguish between the behavior that led you to make an unfit choice versus and fit one.
  • Use a timer to remind yourself to get up off your duff and move for 5 minutes. Do this at least every hour. Be consistent.
  • Find your “reason why” fitness is important to you. Make sure your reason why is internal.

I wish you the best as you make the right choices regarding your health and fitness. I believe that you will.

Cheers,
